We are offering the very first SCENAR EQUUS courses to be held in the UK. These Equine specific courses are the first professional Equine Scenar training courses to be held in the UK. They are being run by:-
- Jill Hick – Professional Equine Trainer and riding coach, with 30 years equine experience and a Scenar Therapist.
Jill Hick – Jill’s first career was working in the city of London. She spent eleven years there, working for a merchant bank, before deciding that this wasn’t the path she wanted to take. Jill had already set up a livery yard at her home in Kent.
Once Jill was permanently running her yard, she decided that she wanted to continue to extend her own knowledge of horses. Jill trained under the BHS for a few years and was then invited to attend a Monty Roberts course, which she completed. Jill went on to become a Recommended Associate for Kelly Marks and Intelligent Horsemanship, regularly dealing with a variety of troubled horses, all of which presented various and very individual problems.
Jill would take horses in for training at her home; backing youngsters, restarting or re-schooling those with behavioural problems and so forth. It was during this time that she first became interested in saddles. Jill says, “If you can ride a horse bareback and it doesn’t buck or rear, the problem must be what you are sitting on.” She chose to train with and then worked for the renowned Kay Humphries as a saddle fitter. Kay introduced Jill to an Equine Bowen therapist, Ian Fields, with whom she spent a lot of time with over the years.
Jill is a recognized Enlightened Equitation Trainer (Level III); an organisation founded by Heather Moffett, an internationally acclaimed remedial riding instructor and a well known author, who is considered to be an authority on the classical seat. Jill became sales manager for Heather Moffett’s own range of saddles.
Over the past thirteen years Jill has also been personally training with Diane Thurman-Baker; one of the best horse and rider trainers in the UK.
Seven years ago, Jill invented the ‘Inky Dinky Saddle’ for small children. The very first was for her own daughter, Maggie and as they say, one thing led to another! Jill made the second for a friend’s daughter and then several saddles later, she made the decision to produce the ‘Inky Dinky’ for general sale. Many RDA centres now have an ‘Inky Dinky’ and numerous children have benefited enormously from this great little saddle.
Most recently, Jill has concentrated on schooling horses for clients. For some years now, she has also helped to run summer camps for Down Syndrome children; facilitating learning through being with horses and ponies.
Jill was first introduced to SCENAR when a couple of horses on her yard received treatment. The changes were amazing! Having inadvertently hurt herself when out running, Jill spent three days on crutches, unable to walk. After receiving a SCENAR treatment every day for five consecutive days, Jill was able to run two miles! She personally needed no more convincing.
