The entry requirements for SCENAR Equus training courses are as follows:-
- Candidates must have some previous experience in handling horses.
- First aid certificate on completion of Scenar Equus Level 2.
- Appropriate insurance cover in place, including insurance to treat people and animals.
SCENAR Equus will focus on an holistic view point; topics such as anatomy and conformation, equine behaviour, equine dentistry, farriery, physiology and saddle fitting, amongst others, are all taken into account.
It is very benficial that practitioners have already treated humans beforehand, so everyone already knows how to use and navigate around their SCENAR device. If you do not have this experience please notify us in advance. Thank you.
These courses do require you to purchase a book that will be used extensively throughout Level 1 and Level 2. It would also be most beneficial for you to learn the contents, prior to starting the course. Understanding elements like the ‘Anatomy & Physiology’ of a horse will make the courses very much easier to understand.
All candidates will need to purchase The Horse Anatomy Workbook by Maggie Raynor for the courses. Buy from Amazon
Please do come suitably dressed for working with and around horses. Boots or shoes with heels, are not safe and can cause unnecessary accidents.
Once fully qualified in ‘SCENAR Equus’ at Level 2, practitioners will be able to choose whether to be listed on our National Register as fully endorsed, recommended associates of our organisation. For this service, there is an annual membership fee of £50; primarily to cover the administration costs in supplying ‘SCENAR Equus’ referrals nationwide. In order to raise public awareness about Equine SCENAR therapy, we will shortly be committing to a regular monthly ongoing cost to optimise our website on Google and other search engines (SEO). Experience has already shown us that this will result in a lot of enquiries, both by phone and email. The National Register will then enable us to make suitably approved, professional therapist referrals.
Please be aware:-
SCENAR Equus will be running masterclasses throughout the year, in a variety of important subjects e.g. the importance of correct bitting or static and dynamic conformation.
Why would you need to be aware of many such factors when you are using SCENAR to treat horses?
SCENAR therapy will not be able to work to its maximum capacity if the owner of the horse you are treating for, say, muscle atrophy keeps putting a badly fitting saddle on his back, or indeed, if his bit is pinching his mouth. For instance, the latter example will cause the horse to pull his head back and upwards; over-developing the muscles in the underside of his neck. As a direct consequence of the head and neck being held in this position, the horse’s back will drop and the quality of his movements are then negatively affected throughout his body. Ultimately, a badly fitting bit would cause this horse to be in a lot of pain.
